Today, "frozen" carries inconsistent date marks and storage instructions across brands — feeding consumer distrust. IFFI proposes a unified "Frozen on" declaration, standard −18°C storage iconography, and clear defrost guidance.

Cold chain build-out, beyond the metro
India's 37M MT of cold storage is concentrated and potato-heavy. Tier-2 and tier-3 demand is growing 3.4× faster than metros — the infrastructure must follow it.

Expanded SAMPADA allocations for multi-commodity frozen storage and reefer transport in tier-2/3 corridors.
Reliable power for the last mile
A frozen product is only as good as its weakest freezer. Retail-level power reliability and equipment standards decide whether −18°C survives the final kilometre.

BIS equipment standards for retail freezers and priority-load classification for cold storage.
Indian frozen food, on every shelf abroad
From frozen parathas in Singapore to shrimp in Tokyo, Indian frozen exports are a proven success. A coherent export standard and country brand would multiply it.
